Richard Taylor is a commercial real estate expert, a proven business and university leader, with measurable success in creating new ventures, departments and projects. He has developed more than $300 million worth of projects nationwide in the residential, retail and commercial sectors, including Douglass Plaza, Olympia Tower, Fountain Hill and Bradford Estates. An experienced leader, Richard has overseen government agencies, divisions of major companies and university programs. He served on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where he worked with Fed President Richard Syron to transform community banking. Gov. William F. Weld appointed him Secretary of Transportation and Construction for Massachusetts, a role in which Richard completed federal and state approvals for the Big Dig. Richard has a track record of effectively creating new entities, from his role as Founding President of the Minority Developers Association to his current role as Founding Director of Suffolk University's Center for Real Estate. He has been active in civic and community engagement in several roles. Richard served as Chairman of the Board of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, Chair of the Partnership and President of the Boston Ballet. Most recently he played a central role in establishing two debate forums for communities of color during the 2012 Boston mayoral election. This effort was extended to the 2014 governors election in Massachusetts where he helped develop Governor Charlie Baker's Urban Agenda.     Completed federal and state approvals for the Big Dig, restored Commuter Rail service from Worcester to Boston, initiated construction of the Old Colony Line, funded the total reconstruction of Dudley Station Bus Terminal and oversaw management of all capital and operating budgets. Also served as chairman of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Board of Directors.
